How to print your wedding place cards
Three easy ways, depending on your printer, budget and how much cutting you want to do.
Whichever you choose: print one test page on plain paper first and check names, table numbers and spelling before using your good card.
1. At home on Avery folded place cards
The easiest option if you have a printer. Avery Folded Place Cards 982503 (also coded C32073) are pre-cut and pre-scored: 4 cards per A4 sheet, 85 × 50 mm when folded, 10 sheets per pack. You can buy them at Officeworks and most stationers.
- In the studio, go to 4. Print and choose Avery folded 85×50.
- Select Download PDF (or Print directly).
- Print page 1 on plain paper at Actual size / 100%. Turn off "Fit to page" or "Scale to fit".
- Hold the test page against a card sheet up to a window. If the cards sit a little off, use Move right / Move down on the Print step to nudge them (in millimetres), and test again.
- Load the card sheets (check your printer's manual for which side faces up) and print.
- Fold along the scored line and snap the cards apart.
Heavy card can jam some printers. Feed one sheet at a time through the rear or manual feed tray if your printer has one.
2. At Officeworks or any print & copy counter
Good if you don't have a printer or want thicker card. You print sheets of cards and cut them out yourself.
- On the Print step, choose A4 Paper. For fewer cuts, open More print options and tick Align to top & pack tight, so neighbouring cards share cut lines.
- Select Download PDF and take or upload it to the print counter.
- Ask for document printing on card stock, around 250–300 gsm, single-sided, at actual size (no scaling).
- Cut with a paper trimmer or a sharp craft knife and ruler. Score the fold line with the back of a butter knife against a ruler before folding.
Why not the "place cards" product? Pre-made place card products at print shops and online printers (Officeworks, Vistaprint and others) are usually ordered as one design in a pack. That's great for table numbers or blank cards, but every name card is different, so printing your own sheets is simpler for named place cards.
3. At a professional printer (A6 with bleed)
For the most polished finish, including colours that run right to the edge.
- In Design, set Card size & shape to the A6 print template. On Print, choose A6 Template (bleed).
- Download the PDF: one card per page, 115 × 158 mm including 5 mm bleed, trimmed to 105 × 148 mm (A6), ready to fold to 105 × 74 mm.
- Send it to your printer and ask for it to be trimmed to A6 and scored at the centre.
Files are RGB. Most printers convert to CMYK automatically, which can shift colours slightly, so ask for a printed proof if colour matters.
Paper and finishing tips
- Weight: 250–300 gsm folds crisply and stands up well. Lighter card can sag.
- Finish: matte or linen textures look elegant and don't show fingerprints. Gloss can glare under reception lighting.
- Spare cards: add a few Extra blank cards (in More print options) for last-minute guests.
- Changes: once your event is unlocked you can export again any time, at no extra cost.
