Terms of Service
Last updated 20 October 2026
In short: designing is free. A one-off payment unlocks watermark-free exports for one event. Your designs and guest lists are yours. Please check a printed proof before printing everything. Nothing here takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Jackson Charles Knight (sole trader), ABN 16 127 973 168 ("we", "us"), for your use of Place Card Studio at placecardmaker.app (the "service"). By using the service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
2. The service
Place Card Studio lets you design place cards, table numbers and seating charts in your browser and export them as PDF or PNG files. You can use it without an account, or create a free account to save events online.
3. Accounts
- You sign in with a link sent to your email. Keep access to your email account secure, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
- You must be at least 18, or have a parent's or guardian's permission, to create an account or make a purchase.
- You're responsible for activity under your account.
4. Pricing and payment
- Designing, previewing and saving are free. Exports from an event that hasn't been unlocked carry a "preview" watermark.
- Unlocking an event costs A$19 (including any GST), paid once through Stripe. The price shown on the unlock button at the time of purchase applies.
- One event means one design project in the studio, such as one wedding, with any number of guests, cards, table numbers and seating charts, exported as many times as you like. Starting a new event (Designing a different wedding?) needs a new unlock.
- The unlock is stored in your browser, in your progress file and, if you're signed in, in your account. If you lose access to it, contact us with your receipt and we'll restore it.
5. Refunds
See our Refund Policy.
6. Your content
- You keep ownership of everything you create or upload: designs, guest lists, fonts and artwork ("your content").
- You give us permission to store, process and display your content only as needed to provide the service to you.
- You must have the right to use anything you upload. Some fonts and artwork are licensed for personal use only or forbid embedding; that's your responsibility to check.
- You're responsible for the accuracy of guest names, table numbers and other details, and for having your guests' permission to use their information (see our Privacy Policy).
7. Your exports
Files you export from an unlocked event are yours to print and use for that event, including having a print shop produce them. The built-in themes and florals are included under a licence to use in your exported cards; you may not resell or redistribute them as standalone designs or templates.
8. Printing
Screens, printers and papers vary. Before printing a full batch, print a test page and check sizes, cut lines, colours and spelling. Exports are RGB; some print shops convert to CMYK, which can shift colours slightly. We aren't responsible for printing costs caused by details you didn't check, except where the law says otherwise.
9. Acceptable use
Don't use the service to break the law, infringe others' rights, upload malicious files, try to get around payment or security measures, or overload or disrupt the service.
10. Availability and changes
We work to keep the service available but can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may improve or change features. If we ever close the service, we'll give reasonable notice so you can download your events.
11. Your consumer rights
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms limits those rights. For example, if there's a major failure with the service, you're entitled to a refund.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, and except for the guarantees above, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the affected event, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss. Where the law lets us limit liability for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.
13. Ending your use
You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to close your account. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaches these terms.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Significant changes won't apply to an event you've already paid for in a way that disadvantages you. The date above shows the latest version.
15. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
